Nestled between the larger cities of Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, the Municipality of Sioux Lookout is an enchanting Northwestern community that offers the best of both flourishing city and small-town charm.

Known as the Hub of the North, we connect 29 remote northern communities to world-class healthcare and essential services, and our stunning natural surroundings embody an Ontario preserved from an earlier time. With our network of lakes and endless forest, it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful backdrop for daily life.

Sioux Lookout’s is home to about 5,600 people, with a median age 4 years younger than the provincial average. We are a stable, diverse, and progressive community known for our excellent education system and our delivery of advanced health and social services to citizens and neighbouring communities.

The newly built Meno Ya Win Health Centre, along with the Northern Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative, have brought many nurses and physicians to Sioux Lookout and the Boreal Trails area in particular due to its close proximity to the Health Centre.

The economy in Sioux Lookout is incredibly strong, and contributes to a stellar quality of life for our citizens. Sioux Lookout’s unemployment rate is significantly below that of Ontario’s and its income rate is significantly higher.

Why Boreal Trails

Boreal Trails homes provide luxury and solitude, with the added convenience of close proximity to downtown shopping, golf, hiking and skiing trails, and the state-of-the-art Meno Ya WIn Health Centre.

The fact that Boreal Trails is only a stone’s throw from the newly built Health Centre has attracted an abundance of nurses and physicians to the subdivision. Our trails, green spaces, dog park, and playgrounds contribute to the family-friendly and community-centric atmosphere that has been especially helpful for families new to the area.

Many health professionals are also purchasing our spacious homes in groups of 2 or 3 to save on living expenses, while also being able to completely customize their home to fit everyone’s needs and preferences.

As Boreal Trails grows, we are happy to explore new ways to accommodate the lifestyles of our community members.
